Visits Exchanged

Eisenhower and Khrus-
chev exchanged visits to their
respective countries with
hopes of easing world tension.
However, this goal was not
attained as was evidenced by
the Summit Conference held in
May of 1960. Previous to this
meeting a U. S. Plane was shot
down over Russia. The
Russians used this affair as
an excuse to halt plans for
world peace.
