What could be more thrilling than
seeing a close, exciting basketball
game? Nothing, and as Raider fans,
we got to see several of them this
year.
Under new head coach Larry Becker,
the boys' basketball team went 14-9
this season. The scores of the games
were Ft. Calhoun 49 - Mead 55;
Wahoo 36- Mead 40; Cedar Bluffs 47
- Mead 49; Waterloo 62 - Mead 7 4;
Scribner 65 - Mead 44. During Holiday
Tournament action the Raiders won
first round against Cedar Bluffs 43-39
but were defeated by Yutan 49-58.
Other regular season scores were
Weeping Water 55 - Mead 60 (30T);
Lincoln Christian 55 - Mead 57 (20T);
Wahoo Neumann 57- Mead 49 (OT);
Yutan 81 - Mead 67; Bennington 40 -
Mead 44; East Butler 87 - Mead 65;
Malcolm 63 - Mead 61 (OT); Cones-
toga 64 - Mead 66; Louisville 51 -
Mead 48; David City 82- Mead 60. In
Conference Tournament play Mead
Defeated Cedar Bluffs 47-45 and
Louisville 56-47. In the final round, the
Raiders lost to Yutan 47-69 and
placed second in the tournament.
Mead won their sub-district bracket by
beating Cedar Bluffs 49-46 and
Waterloo 58-51 .
The Raiders came close to making
State Tournaments for the second
year in a row. Mead was matched up
in Districts against Scribner and the
game went down to the wire, with
Scribner winning 53-37.
Scott Pickworth and Tom Milliken were
both chosen as all-conference
players. Scott also received honorable
mention in Class C-2 from the Wid.
