The 2015-2016 Science Club was one of the largest ever, with thirty-
six members. They kicked off the year with their annual Make-Your-
Own Ice Cream social. They also held their annual science themed
pumpkin-carving contest. In November, they visited UNL's Behlen
Observatory to learn about stars, planets and constellations. In
December, Science Club learned about optical illusions and in
January they dissected stillborn piglets. In March, they helped the
Lower Platte NRD hold a Test Your Water Night, where they were
able to actually conduct the nitrate testing for Elmwood and Murdock
community members. In April, they had eight students participate in
the state Science Olympiad competition. Four members placed in
events: Megan Hawks and Austin Hawks, 5th place in Bridge Building
and Caleb Jones and Molly Feile, 1st place in Write It, Do lt. Finally, Pick up your forceps! The Science Club helps
elementary kids virtually dissect a baby pig.
