CLASS HISTORY
The class of l946has juRt finished its twelve-year course. During
these yeors, we have had many thrills, joys, pains, failureP, and suc-
cesses.
Twelve years ago, in Seotember 1g04, we entered the first Er&de
l-lith the hooe thPt we were to be educated. 'lie were f' clase: of Pixteen;
Arlene Behrens, Delores 8enFon, Dorothy Karlson, Dale Eyer, Adrienne
Grouue, Rose Marie Higgin P, r'rrnk l':11chovec. Marion l!oline, ·wayne F eters,
Roger Smith, Dorothy Sullivrn, Lloy~ Sullivan, DoloreP Swf'nson, Merna
Williams, Verna 'tJilliams, and '.l'ayne 'liilliams. We wonder how many mie:sed

some of our group went to other school!', After soending two years ~1ith
Miss Jeooson, we were greeted by a nev teacher, Hiss Nygren.
During the third grade three members were added: Delores Fuchser,
Ronald H"rtmeister, and Blanche Blosser. Werry ~as pwrrded a book for
h?ving oerfect attendance during the year. How tnings hP.ve changed in
nine yeP.rs~
In the fourth grade our personnel remained the same during the whole
year. We soent two delightful years with Miss Nygren, but were eager
to oass on and entered Miss Sward's room in Seotember of 1938.
. Joan Pepr ROn joined US in the fifth grnde, which now made us a class
of fourteen. In Aoril, Warren Hanke joined our clr ss. The grade coer-
etta entitled "Station Claudville~ under the direction of Hr. Franklin
LeBar, was given.
During the sixth grade Bernard Schmidt joined us, making the en-
rollment 15. This year stands out in our memory of grade school. We
were very fond of Miss Sward; her kindness and helofulne ss made our yeers
with her oleasant, indeed,
'.Vith fear and trembling we entered Junior High. Webecame acouPj,nt-
ed with the upoer-closFmen and how grand they seemed 8nd how important~
Hiss Viva Engel was our orincipal. And those desks in senior assembly--
0, brother~ Invariably we tried to get in fr ~ m the wrong side and the
imoudent uooer classmen laughed 11t our ol i ght ,
Alas, in the eighth grade we hit the unlucky number of 13. Too
bPd for the sunerstitious members. Patty Welton entered our class and
Delores l"ud ,·e" Bnd Blanche Blosser left - our merry little grouo. ':.'e
really felt honored this year. We received the Pecond orize of Sl given
by the seniors for the BuccPneer contePt .
Well! Well! We at last rePched high school and our enrollment
doubled. The freshman cl?sswas the lPrgest in our history. Freshmen,
we were, but not as green as some oeoole might think. e~: members wer e
Arlene Coufal, Louise Angell, Hrrold Hager.1an, Leslie Hageman, and Char leE
Parsons. Gene Egbert joiner1 us in Janupry. Our clPss soonsor was Miss
Jean Stutt.
In the year of 1943 we found our~elves in Senior High School as
intelligent s~?ho~o~es. The new members to our rlPSR were Carol Berg-
man Pnd Robert Scoles. Our class s~onsor wrs Mrs. S~oboda; President,
Joan Pear!'on; Vice-Pr esident, Norma Welch; SecretP.ry, Louise Angell;
Treasurer, Robert Scoles.
~ow we were industrinus Juniors with only two years to go. During
this year Gene Egbert left us and Marion Moline joined our ranks agsin--
Harion attended the 8th through the lOth grades ~t Ithaca, Nebraska.
Hrs. Swoboda was our faithful soonsor . Officers of the closs were chosen
as followR: Preeident, Bob ScoleF; Vice-President, ~ayne Williams;
SecretPry, Arlene BehrenR; Treasurer, Dorothy KPrlson. Our class olay,
Shadow of Terror \oiPS oresented on l'\ovem.ber 17, 1944, the receiots to-
talling ab~OO.
It was this year tha t the tragic derth of Verna WilliPms on Feb .
28, 1945, olunged the cla8s into grief . She wss accomoanist for Chorus
8, a valued member of Chorus A, a good rotudent,and had oromioe of a
haopy and useful life. The school and her clasR deeoly felt her loss;
