The Future Farmers of America
is an organization directed to
those who are interested in
agriculture and occupations
dealing with agriculture in some
way. People get a chance to learn
about agriculture through voca-
tional agriculture classes taught
in school. They get a chance to
put their knowledge to use
through FF A. The FF A offers
many things for people to partic-
ipate in. Some of these things
include land and livestock judg-
ing, speaking contests, and par-
liamentary procedure contests.

This year the Mead FF A had a
very busy year. Many members
participated in the district land
and livestock judging contest.
Two members Jim Bergman and
Gus Schliffke, attended the Na-
tional convention held in Kansas
City. This spring members at-
tended the state convention held
in Lincoln. Jim Bergman re-
ceived his state farmer degree
and was a candidate for state
officer.

The FFA-FHA banquet was
held in April. Many awards were
presented to members. Mr. &
Mrs. Fred Bergman were pre-
sented with the Honorary Chap-
ter Farmer degree.

Chapter Officers this past year
were Pres. Skip Hayford, Vice
Pres. Chris Randell, Secretary
Lisa Nygren, Treasurer Gus
Schliffke, Reporter Kris Hass,
Sentinal Paul Johnson, and Par-
liamentarian Jeff Hanson.
