One of the major focuses of Future
Homemakers of America is to devel-
op personal leadership on the local,
district and State levels. Traci Nel-
son served as a District Officer and
Diane Gustafson served as a State
Officer. The Mead Chapter had a
Diane Gustafson very successful and productive year.
State Officer
Advisor: Mrs. Weiss Thirty two members kept busy with
various activities. In June, members
were given the opportunity to at-
tend a District III Summer Retreat
at the YMCA In Fremont. It was an
evening of leadership, fun, and
friends. In Sept., members attended
District Leadership Conference in
Blair. The theme was "FHA-HERO
can make it possible to achieve the
impossible." Members enjoyed at-
tending leadership conferences and
meeting with other Dist. III mem-
bers. In October the FHA sponsored
a joint hayrack ride with the Mead
Valerie & Alisa FFA. In Nov., members participat-
ed in Dist. Search events in Logan
View. All presentations received
gold medals and two presentations
Shawn & Keri advanced to state competition. In
Dec. the "Secret-Santa" gifts ex-
change was held. In Jan., the FHA
sponsored a "Winter Picnic to in-
volve Parents and help them under-
stand FHA. A game of volleyball
followed the dinner. In Feb, a dance
was sponsored with the FF A. In
April, the newly elected officers and
State SEARCH participants at-
tended State Leadership Confer-
ence. It was three fun-filled days of
leadership, social sessions, and fun.
Le Anne-Gustafson, Traci Nelson,
Lisa Nygren and Valerie Schuette's
SEARCH presentation received a
silver medal and Alisa Adams and
Lisa Edin's presentation received a
gold medal in State SEARCH com-
petition. The chapter received the
Red Rose chapter Award for the
second year and Traci Nelson and
Lisa Edins were elected as District
Officers for 1986-87. The year ended
Traci Nelson with the annual FFA-FHA Awards
Joie & Jill District Officer Banquet.
