TWENTY-THREE SENIORS EARN


         Before a large crowd of family and friends,
     twenty-three seniors marched down  the aisle
     to the traditional "Pomp and Circumstance."
     Pastor  Larry  Dieckman  of  the  Covenant
     Church  gave  the  Invocation,  followed  by the
     Salutatory address  by Tyrel Simpson.  Pastor
     Larry Dieckman spoke to the seniors on the in-
     fluence  of heredity and environment on  their
     success.  Students  receiving  scholarships  to
     area  colleges  were:  JODIE ASPER-College of
     Saint Mary,  Bank of Mead,  Josten's Semi-Fi-
    nalist, MEAD EDUCATION ASSOCIATION
     and  the  MEAD  ALUMNI  ASSOCIATION
     Scholarships.  HEIDI  GEHRMAN-Regents,                            ~
                                                  GRAND MARSHALS Jeremy Lamprecht
     Northwest Missouri State University Scholar-  and Brenda Fick
     ships.  AMY  HALBMAIER-       Presidential
     Award,  Women's  Basketball  and  NACCC
     Scholarships  at  Concordia  College.  AMY
     HOLLST- VALEDICTORIAN,  four-year  Re-
    gents  at  UNL,  FOE,  four-year  Endowment,
     and four-year  Carl  M.  Reinert,  Nora  Condon
     at  Creighton  University,  Presidential  Aca-
     demic Fitness Award, and the MEAD ALUM-
     NI ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIPS. JEFF
     KONECKY- Butler  Leadership,  Andrews
     Communications,  Football  and  Talent  Scho-
     larships at Doane College, and the Presidential
     Academic  Fitness  Award.  VICKI  NICOLA-
     Four-year  Honor  at  Midland  Lutheran  Col-
     lege. ROBBIE PELSTER-Athletic at Concor-
     dia  College,  Football,  track and Endowed at
     Doane College, and the Achievement Award in
     Athletics  Scholarships  at  Midland  Lutheran
     College.  TYREL SIMPSON-SALUTATORI-
     AN,  Presidential  Academic  Fitness  Award,
     Congressional  nominations  to  the  Air Force,
     Naval  &  Merchant  Marine  Academies,  3-M,
     UNL, and Anderson Leadership Semi-Finalist
     at Midland Lutheran College  Scholarships.
         Following  the  presentation  of  scholar-
     ships,  Dr.  Wm.  Ellis  Metzger  presented  the
     class of '89 to Mr.  Wayne Petersen, President
     of the  Board  of Education.  Two  songs  were
     sung by the  Mead  High  School-Junior  High
     Chorus and the Senior Chorus.  "We Hold The
     Future"  &  "I'll  Remember  You."  were  the
     songs presented to the audience. Paster Larry
     Dieckman  then gave  the Benediction.
     Grand  Marshals  from  the  Junior  class  were
     Brenda Fick and Jeremy Lamprecht.  Ushers
     from  the Junior class  were  Kristan  Kaut and
     Jason Givens. Graduating Seniors are listed on
     page eight and page nine in living color.
