1 week.
Relaxed, easy going, comfortable, reserved, laid back. These are a few words that easily ex-
pressed the tudent attitude. Just exactly why the students felt this \vay isn't completely clear.
veral tudents felt as if they had reached a happy medium with the teachers. The uppercl men
said they don't argue as much with the teachers, and they had gotten to know them better on a
personal level, increasing the level of respect for tudent-teacher relationships. Many agreed the
teachers were more understanding of where the tudents were coming from. "T eache seem more
relaxed and ju t go with the flow of the tudents ," said senior Tyler Leimer.
If ever there was a year when most students were concerned about apperances, this \vasn't it.
Comfort played a much more important role than the way they I ked. In past years students often
dressed to impr . Thi year dr ing up wasn't the case. Most tudents would come to hool
wearing jeans or pajama pants and one of their hoodies or just aT -shirt. "My favorite thing to come
to school in is my red, snowflake pajama pants and one of my Old vy hoodies," said senior Sherri
Novak.
Even some of the sports were laid back for the people who weren't directly involved in them.
"Our spotting events are more of a social gathering," said sophomore Brian O:q>er. Other tudents
got the feeling that no one cared about what was happening and had no school pirit at all. Many
games, tudents were seen lying back or trying to find a comfortable position instead of cheering and
getting ex:cited. "Everything is so boring; we need some cheerleaders," said junior Jordan Larsen.
With the tudents attitude being so laid back and the comfort level being so high, people were
not afraid to be themselves.
