Great improvement from start to finish was evident for the girls track team.
Starting the year at the Doane Invite, they finished 1Oth, but ended the year
with a fourth place finish at the District meet. Leading in scoring, senior
SHERI HUDDLE, placed in all outdoor meets and advanced to the State
meet. Winning or finishing in the top three in her events, high jump, 100
& 300 hurdles. Sheri clipped 4 seconds off the school record in the 300
hurdles, 47.7 current record , and was among the top six in class C. JODIE
ASPER paced the weight events and never finished lower than third in the
shot put, while advancing to the State meet. Also doing well in the discus
were TERRI LAMPRECHT & JUDY JOHNSON. The competitive 1600 relay
consisted of members: MELINDA THOMPSON , ANGIE LAMPRECHT,
AMY HALBMAIER & SHERI HUDDLE, who placed in almost every meet.
Alternate MARY ELLISON also earned points in the 100 & 300 hurdles.
Scorers in the 800were HEIDI GEHRMAN, & MELINDA THOMPSON, while
CATRINA PARKINS placed third in the 3200 at districts. Sprinter MARCIA
GUSTAFSON was hampered by injuries. Loaded with underclassmen, the
girlS' track future seems optimistic.
