                                                                  The  Mead  Ra1ders  had  a stellar year  as  three  teams  qualified
                                                                for state tourneys:  football. basketball. and 3 events 1n  track.  The
                                                                football  team  beat  Clay  Center  51-12  According  to Coach John
                                                                Dahl.  the game against Clay Center was the most complete game
                                                                offensively and  defensively  The  Ra1ders  ended  the1r  year  with  a
                                                                record of 8-3 after losing to Friend
                                                                  After  struggling  through  the  basketball  season.  the  Ra1ders
                                                                defeated Stella SE  Consolidated  in  the distnct  final  after trailing
                                                                the ent1re  game.  In  the  fourth  quarter sophomore  Edd1e  Couch
                                                                took control and  led  the  team  to a victory. Couch  had  a total of
                                                                21  pomts:  Jun1or  Trav1s  Howell  had  12.  At state  the  #8 seeded
                                                                Ra1ders  played  the  # 1 seeded  Pleasanton  Bulldogs  for  the  sec-
                                                                ond year in a row  Unl1ke  the prev1ous year.  the Raiders lost with
                                                                a score of 51-55.
                                                                  At  the  district meet held  1n  Schuyler.  many athletes achieved
                                                                personal  bests of the season.  Senior Troy Kadavy  ran  16.  5 sec-
                                                                onds 1n  the  11Om h1gh  hurdles and Edd1e Couch JUmped 41  7 3/4
